Windows 7 Pro -- C:\Users -- Cant disable file sharing
File sharing is enabled by default for C:\Users the instant i enable "printer and file sharing" on my Windows 7 pro PC. I noticed this default behavior whether or not the homegroup is enabled "or" disabled. When i uncheck the file sharing box, it will accept the change, but then just reverts back to enabled. Other network users can see the contents of C:\Users. Does anyone know of a workaround, or if I'm not understanding why MS enabled this behavior by default? Sharing cannot natively be disabled for this folder for some reason. The Users folder is a pretty big deal as far as security imo. (Public folders I can understand this behavior, but the Users folder ??? Why? ) Ive seen many forums on the net try to address this. I haven't found an answer so far. bummer. Help !!! Thanks ! Tj

Hi, This symptom can occur if the C:\Users folder or its sub-folder is shared on one of machine and another is not shared. It's normal. You can share or stop the sharing folder in HomeGroup. If the folder is shared, it can be accessed on another machine in the HomeGroup. If you would not like to share certain folder, please right click it on the local machine and clear "Share this folder" option. For more information about the sharing folder in HomeGroup, please refer to the following articles: Share files with someone Windows 7 HomeGroup Thanks, Novak
